Verification and AML
We check who our players are to keep accounts safe and to stop anyone using our games to move criminal money. This page explains what we check, when we check it and what we need from you.
Understanding why we verify
You can join our games only in regions whose own laws let you gamble. We also stick to Canadian standards for confirming ID and age, and for stopping money laundering. These steps help protect you as well.
- It stops minors from playing.
- It blocks people from using stolen cards or someone else's identity.
- It makes sure withdrawals reach the right person.
- It helps us spot and stop fraud early.
Screening names against official lists
At sign-up, your details are screened against Canadian and international sanctions lists, and the screening is repeated regularly after that. We also ask whether you hold a prominent public position, or are related to or closely associated with someone who does.
- Nobody who appears on a sanctions list may open an account with us or keep one.
- Politically exposed persons can play, but we carry out extra checks and ask more questions about their funds.
Monitoring accounts
Our checks continue after registration. Account activity is monitored, and we take a closer look when something appears unusual, for example:
- large deposits followed by withdrawals after very little play
- many different cards or wallets on one account
- payment methods that belong to another person
- deposits that suddenly get bigger or more frequent
When your documents expire or your details change, we will request updated ones.
Keeping records and reporting
- Identity documents and transaction records are kept for the period Canadian law requires.
- They are held securely, in line with our Privacy Notice.
- As the law requires, we notify the relevant Canadian authorities of suspicious transactions and of certain large transactions.
- The law forbids us from letting anyone know when we file a report like this.
Asking about source of funds
From time to time we must, by law, ask where your money comes from. Such requests usually arise as deposit amounts grow, or when account activity does not match the profile we hold for you. Useful documents include:
- recent payslips or an employment letter
- bank statements showing your income
- paperwork proving proceeds from selling property or a business
- tax returns or pension statements
Your account may be paused until we receive and check what we need.
Checking identity and age
A few details need checking before we can take a first deposit: the legal name shown on your ID, your birthday and the address of your home. We also make sure the place you play from is allowed. We may ask you to upload:
- Photo ID: a passport or driver's licence that is valid and issued by a government.
- Address: a bill for utilities or a statement from your bank, issued in recent months, showing where you live.
- Payment ownership: a clear image of your card (front only, middle digits covered up) or an e-wallet screen capture that displays your name.
- Selfie: occasionally, a live photo so we can match your face to your ID.
Every withdrawal is paid back to a payment method you own.
Handling failed checks
When your details cannot be confirmed, or your documents do not match:
- deposits, play and withdrawals are paused
- the account may be closed
- funds may be retained when this is required by law
- any legitimate balance is paid to a verified method registered to you, where the law allows
Should a minor be found able to access an account, our Underage Gambling Policy takes effect. Further account rules are laid out in the Terms of Service.
